As the summer of 2016 is getting near (in Australia it’s already gone :() you are considering which destination to choose for your holiday. So, you want to have a wonderful time enjoying picturesque sights and sunbathing, but still you would like to do a lot of activities. Is there a better place to visit than Tahiti?

When I opted for visiting this place I imagined it to be ideal for unwinding and enjoying long walks. Yes, I was interested for a peaceful holiday, but this place gave me so much options to experience it actively, that I was constantly on the move.

Things to Do in Tahiti

Active holiday? Yes please

First of all, as I was slouching behind my office desk the entire year I realized that my body was in such a disastrous shape. Then I sought for options to get fit while in Tahiti. Here are my best picks:

Surfs up! One of the best ways to get to know what Tahiti nature offers is to explore it by surfing. This activity will increase your stamina and willpower as you fight against the waves. If you are a beginner, don’t worry, the waves aren’t so big so you won’t get beaten along the way.

Water, water, everywhere. If you enjoy the very sight of water and realize what a soothing effect it has on you, why not do something more apart from swimming? Go scuba diving. Physical and psychological benefits of scuba diving are numerous. This activity will increase your flexibility and strength while your stress levels drop. There in Tahiti, you will see magnificent reefs and connect with outstanding nature and get fit, too!

Say yes to kayak at the Punaauia beach. However painstaking it may seem to you, this sport is actually great for both beginners and experienced ones. You will see the vast nature while getting fit, your legs and arms will become stronger as you explore one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Culture please

Secondly, if you would like to know more about the history and culture of the place you are visiting, go for Museums which will leave you speechless. My advice is to visit the Museum of Tahiti and her Islands where you can see vast archaeological collections. What is more, you are lucky to visit a place where there is the only Pearl Museum in the whole world. You can get informed about various types, their history and philosophy and mythology that developed based on them. And an important one – as Paul Gauguin was among the most famous persons to live in Tahiti, you should definitely see his museum and realize what kind of influence Polynesia had on him. I was utterly amazed.

And thirdly, there is one special thing you must not avoid while visiting Tahiti! If you are like me, and want to learn about all the hidden corners of this picturesque place but still would like to experience comfort while doing so, go for cruises. My choice was to pick Paul Gauguin cruises. This was a comfortable experience and I was fascinated both with the nature surrounding us and the service I was provided. Those waiters made us relax and laugh so much, whereas the crew members passed along their knowledge about the islands and amazed us. We got the information about everything we wanted and needed to know from them, and I realize how lucky we were to pick a cruise where residents themselves shared their knowledge with us in several languages. What you have to try is the food on the ship. It is brilliant. Even though you do not see something you would like to try or cannot due to diet restrictions, the lovely chef is willing to prepare something just for you.
